Type 8

The Challenger

A Combo to Olily Skin Type. Red Sensitive, Acne, Anti-Aging

Hey Challenger,

Type 8 is the challenger - and challenging, indeed (but we probably don't have to tell you that). You've been selected as the tribute! Fear not. Hope. It's the only thing stronger than, well, being a Type 8! You are playing a virtual Hunger Games with your skin.

Challenger types have likely tried every product and remedy to combat the near-constant breakouts, skin sensitivity, and oiliness. You've received advice from your best friend, who gets the occasional zit to the grocery clerk, who tells you to wash your face better. The well-meaning advice never works or helps! We know you are weary and would do anything to stop the constant breakouts that doesn't irritate your skin and make you the victorious contender!

Take rest, dear one; you may be a few simple changes from waiving the peace flag, but we want to acknowledge; the solution isn't always clear, and it may take time and support of a team to see the results, it may not be fast, and sadly, there is no quick fix. Your best bet will be non-irritating cleansers, gentle exfoliation, and protective serums to keep the oil and breakouts away!

Your combination, sensitive type skin will respond best by helping to restore balance and harmony. Having combination skin can leave you in an utter conundrum, so creating some uniformity will bring some needed serenity to this outgoing type!
We'd argue that Type 8's are tou may love the limelight but don't underestimate their sensitivity level; in fact, type 7s tend to overreact to new products! This can require careful orchestration when it comes to changing up your skin routine

Type 7 Skin is enthusiastic and considered the extrovert of the SkinEnneagram! Your Type 7 skin will gladly take any imperfection and display it for the masses for weeks or months to come! That's why any blemish, zit, or discoloration that stops by and won't Talley-Ho to save your life (or your Instagram photos).

Type 7s tend to have PIP or 'post-inflammatory pigmentation.' which is why that breakout 2 months ago is still hanging around. Stock up on the concealer, practice some calming mediation, and don't forget your skid kick, SPF! The sun will fortify those pesky spots much longer than you'd like!

Characteristics of the Challenger

And Abundance of Oil

Cleansing your skin is top on your list! Using a gentle, not irritating cleanser that targets your skin's oil production if your skin falls more under the combo like one with salicylic acid (BHA) will help to calm down the oil production. Avoid harsh cleaners and ones that heavily foam as this will only lead to more sensitivity, redness and breakouts.

Red and Sensitive

Your skin's overall sensitivity level leads to a vicious cycle of irritation that can last days and sometimes months. Sun exposure can further accentuate redness, and lead to a sunburn, so SPF should be a go-to in your skincare routine.

Your skin is also highly reactive to certain ingredients, and unfortunately, there is no rhyme or reason and will take some investigation. However, there are some common triggers: foaming products, cocoa butter, jojoba oil, and possibly fragrances, Lanolin, Benzoyl peroxide, or Parabens.

SPF, Anit-Aging and Sun damage

Exfoliation like facial brushes and textured products will lead to redness and more dark spots. Your best bets are products containing Salicylic Acid (BHA's), Glycolic Acid (AHA), and retinoids for anti-aging.

While Vitamin C serums are excellent for combating sun-damage, you may find this too extreme for your skin type. If you choose to use a Vitamin C, stick with one with 10% l-ascorbic acid to minimize a reaction.
